Back to Blogging after a TWO Year Hiatus.

Alas! After two years of living, traveling, and exploring, I return to social media. I actually return to graduate school, which has thrown me back into the computer world.
Im studying Teaching English as a Second Language. It emphasizes digital literacy as an educational tool. It is way cool.
I just signed up for Second Life, yesterday. I have a virtual avitar, who goes to class and conferences for me :)
Its so ironic becuase for 2 years, I experienced life with little or no internet and technology access. Life in Yosmite National Park and on the Big Island, Hawaii, were great escapes from computer life and for naturalist adventures. You should imagine how intimidating my graduate program was when I started. Thankfully, I have great peers and a patient professor who have walked me through the computer basics, to get me on track
with cutting edge information technology.
I feel really blessed and lucky to have options and opportunities to explore my world.
The program I am enrolled in at the University of San Francisco, is literally one of the first of our time. Hopefully this Master's degree will make me very marketable professionally. That is one priority of mine...to continue exploring, learning, and teaching, but hopefully in a way that pays me well for doing what I love.
Also, I have set up my Iphone so I can Blog more conveniently.

All the Best.

My first Fasting...The Master Cleanse

It is 10:00 a.m. on November 3, 2010 and I just drank my first Master Cleanse mixer. It consists of lemons, cheyenne pepper, maple syrup, and purified water (yumm!). Yes, it is also Beyonce's Dream Girl Diet diet, but let me be clear, I am not fasting to loose weight.

First, I should let you know what led me to this decision...
Now that I am 22 I can literally feel the vast effects different foods and beverages have on my body.  Depending on what I eat, I will feel fatigued, bloated, moody, etc. I will not go into too much detail.

I remember my high school days, when I could eat anything and everything and not have any problems or "consequences," (which I am sure 99% of us feel that way). But, even in college, living off awful dining hall, fast food, and alcohol, I never really felt the effects of processed foods, refined and artificial sugars, etc. like I do now.

I am not trying to go all vegan, very respectable lifestyle though. I just believe everything is good in moderation. That should go for everything in my life not just food (very tough to do, hah). So when my friend told me to try the lemon diet, I thought it was just what I needed to do. I could restart my body, detox from foods I crave, i.e. bacon, chips, brownies, and pursue a healthier diet.

My motivation is to see how much self-control I really have. I do love food and it will be hard because so much of our traditions and culture is surrounded by our meals. I think the hardest part will be breaking the physical habit of sitting down to eat. My goal is not to loose weight, it is, honestly, to clean my stomach lining and intestines, restore balance in my body, and see how determined I can be.

What I hope to gain from this, is a healthier lifestyle and stay better in tuned with my body. I will never forget the wise doctor I babysat for in Greenville, who said; practice healthy eating habits now, for it will much easier for you in the long run and NO SUGAR. So, that is what I plan to do and see where this Master Cleanse takes me.

Needless to say... right now I am not hungry, but it has only been 14 hours since my last meal, that includes sleeping last night too. I will stay posted.
